Science experiment 26.8.13

I think that the jelly beens will dye the worm water.

What will happen when we add vinegar?

I think that the jelly beens will dazove.

I see I see  the colour draneing from the jelly beens.

I think I think that the jelly beens will change to a white colour because the colour is drained out.

I wonder I wonder if my predictions will be right?

The jelly beens are looking like they are in a x-ray minion.

I see I see the vinger making the the materle stick to the jar.

I think I think that the vinger is helping it stick.

I wonder I wonder if it depends what sort of materle you use?

The materle is only just changeling  a little bit.

I think that the materle will turn white.

I see

I think

I wonder

“Applying what we know?”

WALT: design an investigation
Purpose: To explain how plant material, with the assistance of a mordant sticks to various fabrics.
Task: Applying What we know
*

Self Assessment
Success Criteria: we will know we have achieved this when:
***
Group Assessment:
use a single plant material (beetroot, red cabbage etc)
use a variety of mordants (cream of tartar, vinegar, salt etc)
use a variety of fabrics (wool, acrylic, calico etc)
record your observations
compare your results
Name:
Overall, how well do you think this person has done?

***

Comment:

Plant material
Mordant
Fabric
Record observations
Eg: Beetroot
Salt
Calico
I could see the beetroot dye bubbling I put the calico material into the pot...I watched as the material started to change colour...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plant material | mordant | fabric | recount observations |
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Camelea flower|vinger   | calico | I see that the mordant is not doing eny thiny to the calico material
I see the calico is changing a lite pink colour.
 the dye is bubbling
I wonder what colour the material will change?
I think that the calico will change a dark pink.
The fabric smells like fruit.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plant - Camelea flower - mordant - vinger - calico

I see: I see the calico changeing a lite pink colour.
I think: I think that the calico will change dark pink.
I wonder: I wonder what colour the calico will change with vinger as the mordant.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plant - camelea flower - mordant - baking soda - calico

I see: I see a and cool colour.
I think: I think that even thow it didn't come out as the grop want it to it was great.
I wonder: I wonder what would happen if we did it with tea bags?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plant - camelea flower - mordant  - salt - calico
I see:  I see a unushel colour and a good teccher.
I think: I think that it was great.
I wonder: I wonder if it depends how much of the mordant you put in?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plant - Camelea flower - mordant - vinger - puour wool
I see: I see purple string because the dye has coloured the string really well.
I think: I think that it is dyed really well because of the mordant.
I wonder:  I wonder if this is the best mordant to use.

Dye are found in menny diffrint plases like hats, plastic stuff and clothing. There is menny diffrint tips of dye like food colouring dye and you can even make your one dye too out of tea bags and beet root too. Dye also stanes and is very hard to get off. Dye is used evey day and we also eat dye too like eating food that has juse in it. You can also use dye to colour the backround of panting and famos people use it all the time. So that's dye. Wow

What can you make dye out of?

First we got a pot and a some beetroot and then you cut up the beetroot and fill the pot with anaf water to cover the top of the beetroot. Next you bouel the beetroot at  150d. I thort that the beetroot would dye the water a redis pinkis colour but it didn't, I change to a dark pink colour.

What colour did the water change?
